I think that this, especially with the recent trend of remaking PS1 classics, could be a winning move and I'd like Era's opinion on it. Hell, we could also get a couple of interesting new characters that may not 'fit' in a later time period. Most importantly, the game can be treated as a 'smaller' entry simply due to the smaller (yet more focused) roster of original characters. Hell, we can even flash back to important Tekken 1 events similar to the way T7 did it.ģ. The iconic story of this entry can be treated with a proper Story Mode, now expandable (and somewhat retconned) with new elements from future entries. We can revisit both the setting and a lot of classic characters (like Ganryu, Wang and 'someone') that we won't see again, while modernizing the look and gameplay to Tekken 7 (or beyond) standards.Ģ.

It is a true classic of the series that invokes a lot of nostalgia and one that deserves to be brought back for a modern audience.ġ. Which is why I am expressing a clear wish for Namco to remake Tekken 2 as an interim release prior to Tekken 8.

Instead, we were mostly treated to some upgrades and side games (Dark Resurrection, Tag 1 HD and Tag 2) in the interim.Īt present, however, there are too few new characters to warrant a release of a Tag 3 and simply upscaling an older title again doesn't seem likely. But since the PS1 era, full sequels haven't really been released close to each other. Naturally, talks about a sequel have also started slowly creeping into the fandom. The Tekken community at large is currently unsure whether or there will be a Season 3 of T7.
